Calcareous marine algae, Lithoamnion carcareum, is a species of seaweed that forms a shell-like structure as it grows. Its mineral honeycomb structured shell is made of calcite, aragonite and valerite. An excellent slow release buffer and a good source of soluble nutrients, this unique material is being made available for land and feed applications by sustainably harvesting the skeletal structures of dead plants that form in natural underwater and shoreline beds deposited by currents and tidal flows. The skeletal remains are harvested, dried and milled. Contains ~32% calcium, ~3.7% magnesium, ~1.5 g/kg sulfur, ~1760 mg/kg iron, amino acids such as Alanine, Aspartic Acid, Tyrosine, and Tryptophan. Supplies are in limited quantity seasonally. Use as a source of alkalinity and slow release pH buffering as well as a good source of soluble calcium and magnesium and as a bioactive and stimulating feed substance. Delivered as a pulverized powder in a 40 lb. box. Price includes shipping to a US Postal Service address. While supplies last!
